List of States in Nigeria and their Local Government Areas: Apparently, Nigeria is a federation with 36 states and about 774 local governments. These states are subdivisions of the country and they are autonomous to some extent. For instance, the central government or federal government of Nigeria is not supposed to interfere with the activities of the state government.
In that same way, state governments are not supposed to interfere with the activities of the local government.
That notwithstanding, they all work hand-in-hand to ensure the growth and development of Nigeria. In my article on why federalism was adopted in Nigeria, I clearly explained the reasons why a federal system should be retained in Nigeria.
Aside from the fact that Federalism reduces the workload of the government and brings about easy administration of the country, it also ensure growth and development at every level of government. I mean, there will be equitable development in every part of the country.
