About the University of Nigeria, Nsukka
The University of Nigeria with the motto “To Restore The Dignity of Man” has its current vice-chancellor as Professor Benjamin Ozumba. Popularly known and referred to as UNN, the University of Nigeria was founded in the year 1955. The university offers 82 undergraduate programs as well as 211 postgraduate programs.
Admission Requirements To Study In UNN
To become a student, one has to meet the following General Entry Requirements;
- Age Limit: No person under the age of sixteen (16) years may be admitted to the University as a student.
- Admission Requirements: University of Nigeria, Nsukka requires all candidates applying for admission into any of its courses to possess five credit level passes which must include a credit pass in English Language and a Science subject in not more than two sittings.
The entry requirements for Direct Entry must include the UTME requirement for that particular course.

The candidate must;
- obtain five (5) credit passes in SSCE or its equivalent in not more than two sittings.
- Obtain five (5) credit passes in not more than two sittings including English language and one science subject.
- have a considerable score in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Exam at least 200
- meet both the school, department and faculty requirements for admission.

PGD PROGRAMMES
PGD (ACCOUNTANCY)
Candidates for the Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) degree programme in Accountancy must have:
- Five credit passes including English Language and Mathematics at the ‘O’ level, and
- Relevant Bachelor’s degrees not lower than the third class from recognized Universities, OR
- Bachelor’s Degree with at least second class lower division in an area not related to Business Administration may be considered, OR
- Higher National Diploma at lower credit level from a recognized institution.
- Relevant professional qualifications are an added advantage.
PGD (BANKING AND FINANCE)
Candidates for the Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) degree programme in Banking and Finance must have:
- Five credit passes including English Language and Mathematics at the “O” level, and
- Minimum of third class division at bachelor’s degree level in Banking and/or Finance, OR in related disciplines. OR
- Higher National Diploma from a recognized institution with a minimum of lower credit.
PGD (MANAGEMENT)
Candidates for the Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) degree programme in Management must have:
- Five credit passes including English Language and Mathematics at the ‘O’ level.
- Relevant Bachelor’s Degrees not lower than the third class from recognized Universities.
- Bachelor’s Degree with at least second class lower division in areas not related to Business Administration.

The entry requirements for a PGD programme in Marketing are:
- Five credit passes including English Language and Mathematics at the O’level.
- Relevant Bachelor’s Degree not lower than third class Division in Marketing and related disciplines from a recognized university may be considered, OR
- Bachelor’s Degree with at least second class lower division in any unrelated discipline from a recognized university OR
- Higher National Diploma at Lower Credit level from a recognized institution OR

MBA PROGRAMMES
MBA (ACCOUNTANCY)
The entry requirements for an MBA in Accountancy are:
- First Degree holder in relevant discipline from a recognized university with a minimum of a Second Class Lower Division with CGPA not lower than 2.50 may be admitted.
- A postgraduate diploma with a CGPA AT 3.00 on a five-point scale or 2.50 on a 4-point scale in Accountancy or Banking & Finance from a recognized polytechnic.
MBA (BANKING AND FINANCE)
Candidates for the MBA degree programme in Banking and Finance may have any of the following:
- First Degree in Banking and Finance or Economics or related discipline with the second class lower division.
- Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) degree with a 3.0 GPA on a 5-point scale or 2.50 GPA on a 4-point scale.
MBA (MANAGEMENT)
Degree in Economics and Business-related courses from a recognized University with a minimum of second class lower division (3.0 CGPA on 5-point scale or 2.5 CGPA on 4-point scale) may be admitted or a Postgraduate Diploma with a 3.50 CGPA on a 5-point scale or 3.00 CGPA on a 4-point scale.
MBA (MARKETING)
The requirements for admission into the MBA programme in Marketing are as follows:
- Candidates with any Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university must have a minimum of second class honours lower division, OR
- Candidates with Postgraduate Diploma from a recognized university who have passed with a minimum of 3.0 GPA at 5-points scale, or 2.5 GPA at 4-point scale.
- Candidates with good quantitative background and some basic knowledge of Economics will have an added advantage.
- Holders of HND and/or professional qualification disciplines are eligible for admission provided they possess a Postgraduate Diploma.
EXECUTIVE PROFESSIONAL PROGRAMMES
EXECUTIVE MBA (HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT)
Candidates for the Executive MBA programme in Human Resource Management should have the following:
- Minimum of 3 (three) years working experience in industry

- Minimum of 5 (five) years working experience in industry
INCLUDING
- Executive Masters in Business Administration (Executive MBA), or Masters degree in ANY business-related discipline.
OR
- Masters degree in Economics, Public Administration, Political Science, Law, Engineering, Estate Management, Hospital Administration, Health Economics, Public Health.
OR
- Masters degree in any discipline with at least a minimum of 5 (five) years MANAGERIAL experience.
